So apparently according to Tad Stones, Ducktales and Darkwing Duck are NOT set in the same universe but rather both take place in Alternate universes.

I'm not the type of guy who cares about this kind of stuff but....Thoughts?

I dunno, it's probably just easier to say they're a Multiverse because things don't line up perfectly in the Boom! comics and shit. It is kind of stupid though, because obviously you're supposed to use Launchpad and Gizmoduck's backstories from Ducktales in the DWD cartoon and there were a bunch of back and forth crossovers in the comics referring to events in the other series blah blah.

Honestly look needing to qualify these universes, canon shit is always dumb. If the writers want two stories to line up and ref things in another series as happening they fucking will, if they want to ignore them they fucking will, creative license. That's how it's always been.

Launchpad and Gizmoduck and the Beagle Boys and some other DT characters showed up in DWD background scenes I think, and Launchpad talked about working for Scrooge and all that.

I don't know, this seems dumb, basically the two shows seemed to be in the same universe, I don't know maybe there are some details that didn't line up if you really looked at them, they didn't want to be constrained, for example I thought maybe there was a FOWL in DT that was different from the FOWL in DWD? It doesn't seem like it really matters. Maybe they are thinking about rebooting DWD but it will definitely be in a different universe from rebooted DT this time? Or so they can take comics in two different directions. Who knows?

I could understand if he meant 'classic' or Don Rosa Scrooge but it was understood that the only 'original' DA shows that didn't share a universe were Gummi Bears and Rescue Rangers, and even then DW was originally supposed to visit the RR universe in that weird dimension-hopping episode.

What pisses me off is this question:

So Negaduck was just evil Darkwing from an alternate universe, and that episode even showed that he lived in the same house, at the same address, with Launchpad and Gosalyn (I mean A Launchpad and a Gosalyn), evil Muddlefoots for neightbors, he even had his secret hideout in the same damn place (the bridge tower).

So really, why the fuck did Negaduck never just drop a bomb on Darkwing's house, or blow up the bridge? Negaduck IS Drake Mallard from a Mirror Universe, he (should) know everything about Darkwing, why the fuck did this never occur to him?

This makes far more sense. Ducktales always felt like it was set in a timeless world that had a 30s to 70s charm with the occasional modern tech where all manner of unexplored regions and treasures still existed. Whereas Darkwing was set in a very modern world with very little room for such timeless charm and far too much wackiness.

We get it, you don't like DWD.

They were too totally different shows, DT was an adventure show and DWD was a parody of superheroes. I liked the humor in DWD more, I liked that DT was serialized a lot which was very unusual for the time and DT probably holds up better, though not as well as the original Carl Barks comics, obviously.

iirc on the show she and the Beagle Boys were in the background because Darkwing and some SHUSH agent were at a supervillain resort and they were on vacation there

Hey, where does TailSpin go in all of this? Its set in the early 1900s so it could take place in the past of one of them. Although it seemed less cartoonish and more adventurous like DT, so I'm kinda lost here.

Flintheart, Magica and the Beagle Boys are background villains waiting to bid on the master list of undercover SHUSH agents for murdering purposes. There was going to be some convoluted episode explaining this but then the show got cancelled and it never happened.

But the show had no continuity most of the time lots of shit made no sense it was an episodic comedy. They even made fun of it with for example that origin episode that was a Superman parody that didn't fit in or make sense at all or the one where they were all pirates for no reason.

Or in one ep Drake goes to a high school reunion and gets made fun of for not having a date when he had a super smocking hot steady girlfriend at the time they probably should have at least mentioned him trying to ask there

The old Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck cartoons and some comics were mostly dominated by humanoid animals but still threw in some recurring humans, like Ranger Woodlore, as well as some towns which were heavily dominated by humans but had a few dog and cow people walking about. I think segregation might be a thing there. Goofy lives in a mostly canine town in Gooftroop with Pete and his family being the only felines. And there was only like one other pair of lion people in one episode. And the Goofy Movie was completely dog dominated but at the end of the film when Power Line's roadie crashed into the giant screen we could see more varieties of animal people in the crowd, like pigs, bulls, ducks and Mickey.

He's obviously saying this because of the new Ducktales reboot coming next year. It's either:

A: They don't want to be bothered about a new Darkwing cartoon to go along with it.

Or B: They also have plans for a new Darkwing cartoon, but they won't both shows to be completely separate from each other this time.

I don't think Tad Stones has any involvement with the new DuckTales show so it wouldn't be his place to say whether it is canon to the original or not. Even so, that's a topic that should be left alone until the show is closer to airing.

Cool a DWD thread. There's this thing that's been bothering me for a while.

Remember the episode where they get psychic powers? The bad guys plan to kill Darkwing is to drop the giant anvil on him, which is established as something that will kill him if it happens. But then the FOWL psychics are defeated by dropping the anvil on them and they do the cartoon getting flattened thing. But heres the thing, those dudes never appear in the episode or in the series after they waddle from under the anvil.

Also taking to account that they killed the third FOWL guy in the same episode by making him explode himself with psychic powers, those two guys totally died there. They only showed them getting flattened cartoon style and escaping for censorship reasons, what was shown to the audience didn't actually happen in the canon in the show.

I get your reasoning but considering that that DWD isn't that squeamish about death and they killed the other one, they probably chose to do the squashed pancake thing for the gag.

Because of some behind the scenes bullshit that was going on when the Boom comic was first published, all of the dialogue ended up being completely rewritten for the omnibus released last year. The intent was to make it feel more closer in tone to the tv show. I would honestly say that the rewrite is better for the most part (The FOWL Disposition arc went from being the worst arc to the best in my opinion) but there are people who feel that the Quackerjack story from the annual was superior in the original.

"I'll do better than that. I'll save a man. Let's get dangerous!" was changed to "I'll save them all... Quackerjack included. Launchpad, grab some cake for the road."

I watched some 10 episodes a couple of months back and found it very tame and mediocre. The "bellyflop technique and yellow face/feather" one was the last straw.

I'd honestly be less forgiving if it was not for the characters, particularly DW's rogue gallery that are GOAT. Oh, yeah also Dan Castlevania.
