Then again, Spider-Man isn't allowed to move on and mature, so that won't happen. Guilt was the catalyst for creating Spider-Man and the reason for him putting Gwen up on a pedestal in her death, but it is an atrocious disservice to be the main driving force in what keeps him going. Not his golden heart, not his good will, not for the loved ones that believe in him, no, because he feels like he doesn't deserve to stop because of people who died. He doesn't feel as if he deserves better or a break or a reprieve or to feel good because of a handful of what he's done, despite more than making up for it.
There's a point where an interesting and compelling character trait becomes too much, too big, and too deprecating, is what I'm saying. And Spider-Man's guilt has long crossed that line, to say nothing of his responsibility. Peter won't ever let himself rest because of guilt, and that's awful.
