I like Padippica, but the only GF ship that got any focus or development was Wendip, and most of that just made me dislike the canon version of that ship because Dipper was a little faggot about it (in fan works Wendip is fine). I preferred the Padippica interaction too but no romance was best, they are 12 year olds and all the crush plots they did have were retarded and cringey. Not the show's strong point. Not most shows' strong points honestly.
Here's the thing too, with most shippers it's just about your personal fetishes, not the writing. Do you like /ss/ or sexy blonde alpha bitches is what it comes down too, neckbeards on /u/ will fap to two chicks, fujoshits will fap to two guys, incestfags get off on well incest, and that will determine what people "ship" more often than not because two characters could be good together but if it's not a fantasy or fap fuel for people they probably won't give much of a shit. Consider why there's barely any fan art or discussion of Soos and Melody who are more canon than any of these ships. So people can ship what they want but wars about it are stupid like debates about breast expansion vs. ahego or something, it's down to weird personal sexual factors mostly.
