If you want to a good example of poorly done non-sequitur humor, Family Guy is a better target. Their cutaway gags aren't the point of the show, they aren't the plot, and they don't contribute to the plot. The show tries to maintain a structured plot each episode, but it fails miserably because every fucking ten seconds there's a completely unrelated cutaway gag, that are only transitioned into through horribly forced dialogue.
With Rixty Minutes, the commercials ARE the plot. It's clever and it makes sense to focus on a bunch of unrelated sketches. With Family Guy, it's always so forced and distracting.
