>>84998165>hailed as one of the best DC cartoons of all time?Is it really?
Don't get me wrong, /co/ likes it, and I absolutely ADORE it, it's the best "fun" super hero show in my opinion, and a great showcase of how FUN and varied capes can be, but isn't that an exaggeration? Characters and stories are kind of one note and mostly simplistic and comical for the most part, it's the variety show mentality, homages, references and the overall spirit what makes that show so great and I feel that's a bit of a "taste" thing, not everybody would appreciate it the same as Justice League or Spectacular Spiderman.
I'm in fucking love how it captures and revitalizes the spirit of the Silver Age while in my opinion, fixing some things, and how even if it's snarky at times, it never feels bitter. There's some genuinely well thought out stuff, like
how they adapted the story of the Doom Patrol's death; perfectly capturing the feeling of strange sadness the team's stories have, Ted Kord's appearances, what they did with B'Wanna Beast, that episode when Mister Mind turns Batman into a cute kid, the fact that we first see Bruce's face when he confronts Joe Chill, and of course, that brilliant Finale, that everybody could appreciate, but I don't think it has that wide of an audience?
That being said, this show reminds me of it and I'm hoping its focus is fun as well.
