It's obviously a lighter and sillier cartoon, but it's not just an animated version of the Adam West TV show--it's very smartly written, respectfully celebrates an entire era of DC characters and stories without taking itself too seriously or too lightly, and has at least one episode written by Paul Dini (Chill of the Night).
If you need something serialized and as continuous as JLU, go Marvel and watch The Spectacular Spider-Man. It's every bit as good as the DCAU's best.
