Okay, so there had to be a reason Bishmuth was bubbled in Lion's mane, as opposed to being with all the other bubbled Gem shards, right?
My guess is that Bishmuth despises Homeworld, but not for the same reason Rose did. Bishmuth didn't value Earth or the people, she just despised how oppressive Homeworld was, trying to keep the lesser Gems from power. She used Rose's cause as a means to escape and Rose was overjoyed to have another ally, and she became a powerhouse for their team, working her way into their troops hearts. However, Bishmuth was trying to take Rose's position as Leader so she could change their cause - To conquer Earth and use it to form a new Gem-World. Eventually, this got revealed to Rose in the battle of Strawberry Fields, and had their own duel while everyone else was fighting. It was a tough exchange but Rose would go on to win, and for whatever reason, she couldn't destroy Bishmuth's gem, so she bubbled it and put it in a place where no one would plausibly find it.
Then, Steven did. Bishmuth comes up in conversation with the Crystal Gems, and after describing her Gem, Steven remembers he saw it in Lion. Lion tries to resist Steven taking her out, but Steven avails. After reforming at the temple, the first thing Bishmuth does is grab Steven by the scruff of his shirt, thinking she's still fighting, but after seeing the Gems, she lets him go and apologizes, a little shocked by her surroundings. Not knowing what's going on, but realizing the Crystal Gems aren't trying to hurt her, she tries to act all buddy buddy with them again.
This is going to be an advisory where Steven learns some people just don't want to reform and no matter how hard he tries, it's not always going to turn into a Peridot situation, and that sometimes it takes force for the better cause.
