Yeah but being in a relationship is part of that as far as I'm concerned. Not a one-sided one where she basically worships her partner (ala Rose) but instead a relationship that not only validates, but furthers all the developments we've already seen from her.>>84267309
I disagree. I mean, I agree it probably won't happen, much to my displeasure, but I disagree that it would be unhealthy.
In fact, she's probably the healthiest person Pearl could end up with. On a superficial level, we know Pearl likes 'em big, and that Pearls are generally thought of as quite fancy and beautiful to someone like Jasper. Also they both clearly see the value and art of combat on some level, but that's beside the point. More importantly is the emotional connection:
Firstly, as >>84267358
puts it, it FINALLY completes Pearl's arc of "I'm so sad about Rose dying, I can never love again", and puts a unique twist on Jasper's redemption arc in comparison to the other two Homeworld Gems.
And secondly, it makes perfect sense how far Pearl has come as a character, and how far Jasper needs to go. Pearl has come all this way learning to believe in herself, to speak her mind, to act decisively- having a significant other to which she is not submissive or subordinate and she can freely have banter with would be perfect. ESPECIALLY because this other person, Jasper, desperately needs someone to call her out on her bullshit. So Jasper finally has someone who won't back down to her and can subsequently help her change for the better.
Not to mention Jasper's seemingly stubborn nature, for all the problems it would/will cause when Pearl is calling her out on her shit, would be helpful for the times Pearl has lost hope. Jasper seems like the person who makes up her mind on something regardless of the odds against her, which I imagine would be of great strength and comfort to Pearl who analyzes and overthinks things frequently.
