You flee, you live on roots and pinecones, and it sucks.
Meanwhile the guys are either doing the same thing or they're being shot to death while enduring their own miserable conditions. They might be eating if they're well-supplied, but if we're looking at the "suck" side, they're losing and there is likely not any food on the front either.
You could debate which gender suffers more on the losing side of a war, but I bet it depends more on how lucky you are rather than what's between the legs.
