Wondy's problems are several-fold.
1) It explicitly draws attention to an outside force changing memories.
2) Nothing else happens in the story, so the retcon takes primary focus.
3) It's a reductive retcon - things are erased, rather than added.
4) It feels mean spirited, with the destruction of the helmet. Rucka is telling Azz-fans what he thinks of her God of War persona, and it's not pleasant. For a medium that's trying to grow, it shouldn't attempt to turn away readers.
