I can't even imagine what it's like to be a kid today. I watched Powerpuff Girls secretly, being a young insecure boy at the time I mean, because usually every episode had some sort of creativity put behind it. Usually there was something new going on.

There were bad episodes to be sure, but stuff like the Boogeyman episode or the Him future episode still hold up today.

The Sedusa episode in particular was interesting. As while its basic plot was "love interest is secretly a bad guy," I recall there was an element of a single parent's new boyfriend/girlfriend viewing the existing children with hostility, which is not something you usually see in a children's cartoon. I don't remember the episode very well, but I want to think Sedusa tried to prevent the girls from fighting crime. Again, interesting conflict, not very often seen in superhero shows.

So obviously this episode is "Mommy Fearest". And what is it's basic plot? Well, it's the plot of any Spiderman comic from the 60's. Really any superhero story from the 60's. This is the sort of thing the Powerpuff Girls were a parody of, not a cuter version of.
There's no element of hostility, the indian girl is nice and smart and friendly, but she gets into a lab accident because the girls are assholes to her.

This was probably born out of one of the staff who works on the show being dumped by someone whose kids were brats, so she feels she has to teach all the kids to be nice to their daddy's new girlfriend, instead of teaching kids not to let themselves be abused or neglected by a parental figure.

They didn't even redo the same premise, they actually made an old one worse.

It's like a perfect analogy for the show as a whole.

It's not new, as it retains almost everything from the old show, except some elements which didn't give a good "message," but it's actively worse.

The show runner or whomever is the artist in the promo videos cannot draw worth a fucking shit, and it shows.

She cannot even draw the characters standardly without "chicken scratching," which means she goes over the line as she's drawing it.

CN probably figured that they don't need good artists since all their works are hyper simplistic and ugly, like RS, SU or AT.

I mean, Pen Ward can't draw for shit, sure, but he had tons of good artists working to make AT not look like trash.

For as ugly as SU is, Sugar's actually a pretty great artist in herself, even if none of that actually translates to the show.

The Professor feels his inventing skills aren't needed, so in an effort to make him feel better, the girls agree to rely less on their superpowers and use his inventions more often. Unfortunately, it doesn't go well.

Level Frequency
When the girls visit the Townsville arcade, they are shocked to see that all the boys have suddenly turned on them, but it appears things aren't as simple as they seem.

I'd say I've lost all hope, but the truth is that my hope went straight out the window on day one. If this show gets a second season, or hell even finishes their first, then there's some real snaky Nickelodeon-esque conspiracy shit going on with this company.

Even when a show gets monumental hate from everyone the show keeps running for several seasons because of how cheap it is to make. Trust me when I say this show doesn't have much more than a shoe string budget considering the inexcusable amount of animation errors. This show was made to sell toys, ponyfags can brag about how much their creators love them and how THEY'VE kept the show alive but when it comes down to it they're all just a means to an end. Make toys, make $$$, when $$$ slows down, take the show to the back and blow it's brains out and go get another on the very same day to avoid losing $$$.

That's how I felt about Fant4stic (which I never watched).

I'm not seeing enough negative criticism and poor ratings about NuPPG to have fun though. It feels like all the garbage these new showrunners are pulling is actually being accepted by the public and that makes me angry.

Do your research. In under 10 minutes a few weeks ago I found a fuck ton of different people, from kids, to teens, to adults(?) that praised the show for being comfy, and DEFENDED EVERYTHING. There's a portion of Tumblr that hates it, and then there's a good fraction that like it and defend it, and not just kids.

Apologies for the extreme delay on this thing. My old laptop, about 6-8 years old, finally started falling apart. Had to get a new one and adjusting after all that time isn't easy.

also I really wouldn't be surprised if CN just quietly cans this show either at the end of it's current season, that or order some really heavy retooling, cause this mixed with the negative vibes caused by both them being deceptive about Uncle Grandpa's cancellation(by making it appear to have been extended instead), as well as how crappy they've been with scheduling episodes this year(especially SU) has really been sending a lot of really bad publicity their way, and really I wouldn't be surprised if the show's ratings tank soon

I don't know if it's a whine thing or not, but the writers/workers would have to be retarded to not know what was happening.

As with WBB and Steven Universe, they didn't get new seasons, they just split them in half, same for UG and everyone found that out pretty fucking fast, so the people on UG should have known that too. Seems more like it's just trying to make CN look bad.

Of course like most things, doing something only because it's the opposite of something you don't like is not the most clever idea, but it's hard to stop the average person from careening wildly away and running blindly in the opposite direction of whatever they didn't like before. The problem was most likely cost.
These probably took time and money to make, while the new PPG is clearly made on peanuts.

It's the same reason TTGo got to stick around while Young Justice got axed: higher quality/more stylized animation costs too much for the modern publishers to be assed with when cheap bright flash animation is more profitable.

Sooo... Haven't watched a full episode of any of the new PPG, but then I decided to check this one out. Impressions

>Opening:
The fuck is this shit? I was already going to start out forgiving but when it came on I thought it was a commercial that CN did years ago to seem 'hip' with their older cartoons still playing.

>Spider Lady:
I can get over she's not Irma(Sedusa), Ms. Keane, and Indian/Dark Skin. In fact, one of the arguments about contrasting designs complimenting eachother came to mind, where Irma was white haired and circular in contrast to the Prof.'s black hair and square design. It would have worked better with her darker skinned, I think. But anywho...
She is bland as hell. Her rambling isn't done in an endearing way but a forceful, annoying way. Her movements are just... painful to watch. She is NOT likable enough to even consider as a returning character as the end suggests

>Story as a Whole:
Bland. Boring. I actually had to force myself to watch it, and I'm pretty open to most shows. UG doesn't make me repulsed as much a good chunk of the time.

Ending:
When the announcer said So once again the proffesor is single I chuckled and cracked a smile. That was the only time in the whole episode I did. The credits I liked too. Cute and enjoyable.

THIS is my first experience with the show. For those of you that sat through this shitfest to get a more appropriate and fleshed out critique of it...
Was this episode the 'worst' or the 'better' one so far? Please for the love of all that is good and holy say it's the worst.

I have a fucking terrible problem with the whole "praising something" part a cartoon or show does, or in real life. The constant thing at the beginning about how rad the boy band is was hard to sit through and I could feel literal pain from how cringe it was.

I need to know what CN thinks about all this terrible feedback. It's probably the most they've gotten this decade. There's no way they are ignoring it, because they've been known to go through the internet for feedback. Not even a lot of articles praise it.

I kinda hope it stays on the air, it's so bad and it's fun to see how worse and worse it gets, at first it was just bad, but they keep finding new ways to make it horrible, ways I couldn't even imagine, and it's wonderful.

You guys can't tell me you don't love finding new errors and new things wrong with the show. That spelling mistake? Top notch, getting voices/characters wrong? Amazing. Like I said, errors I either haven't seen in years or ones I haven't even began to know could happen.

It's not on a "so bad it's good" level, but it really does give me, and most of you, something to do, and it's nice to see all the new ways they keep messing up.

True on the last part, but it actually is getting worse feedback. Unlike criticism TTG for being "stupid!" or "too ugly and the stories are cringe!" people have found multiple worse things than TTG has ever had, from stealing models and backgrounds, to the abundance of errors.

we bare bears in the hypnosis episode, and also a character from the old show was traced and just placed in a short and wasn't even fully colored in, the lines were poor and it looked like someone did a blind contour. While this doesn't fully count as stealing from another show, WBB is a rock solid thing.

Either way, that's a fucking shit excuse. Ms. Bellum is obviously capable and charismatic enough that if she /wanted/ to be the mayor, she /could/ be. She's obviously loyal to the Mayor, so she probably wouldn't want to unseat him herself, but if he got to the point where he retired, she could step up. Or maybe she just doesn't want the full load of bullshit that comes with being an elected official, and is more comfortable with her position as assistant (even if she does do all the critical work herself). The logic that a competent woman can /only/ ever shoot for the highest possible rung is painfully flawed. It's no different than saying that a woman who chooses to be a wife and mother is 'wasting her life', and another example of how this show manages to be insulting while trying to spread a "positive" message.

They showed him a few times in his pajamas, and once in the movie without the coat. Never to that level of nudity though.

In all honesty he's actually fairly well built. It's kinda weird that he looks vaguely chubby here, but that could just be the awkward rounded lines at work.
