>>82109702Take Nepeta. Make her speak in a very proper and dignified manner.
Replace her hunting by another harmless hobby, like fanfic/fanart.
Add a slight theme of isolation and curiosity.
Give her plot ties to the Big Bad Evil Guy of the story so some prophecy justifies making her relevant.
There. You've got Calliope.
>>82108911The problem with LE is that we don't see him talk or act; we only see the results of his actions, or people talking about him, and Scratch speaks on his behalf. That's why there's a disconnect between LE and Caliborn, despite them being the same guy. The former might as well be a big robot piloted by the latter over a distance.

>>82109380You know what? Writing this post, I noticed the problem with the Cherubs is that a lot of their personalities are informed rather than shown.
Calliope is nice and cute because characters say she's nice and cute, even though she hasn't done a lot of nice and cute things.
Caliborn is the villain because characters say so, even though he's never really done anything to make us care about his defeat.
>>82109858Honestly, I often find myself hating all of a character's arc because its ending was shitty and rushed, but you're very right. It's important to remember there's no such thing as "retroactively ruined"; the good moments are still good.
