I never felt that Cheetah aged too well, like she just keeps getting brought back under different names and backstories because new writers need a good anchor villain to start with, not because she's iconic or central to Wonder Woman's character like Lex is to Superman or Joker is to Batman. You're better of looking into Circe or Ares for Wonder Woman's arch nemeses. Maybe Giganta.

The 3rd, most recent Cheetah, Barbara Ann Minerva is a rich explorer and researcher obsessed with supernatural phenomena becomes the host of a spirit that corrupts her. The Animated Cheetah in your pic is basically an amalgam of Barbara and Debbie. Barbara is, arguably, a copy of Marvel's Greer Grant Nelson, aka Tigra. Their origins and abilities are very similar.

Barbara Ann Minerva has been the only consistent Cheetah for the last 20+ years. There are rare occasions when DC brings back Priscilla Rich, since she is the original "human" Cheetah. The source of Barbara Ann Minerva's "cheetah powers" have changed a couple of times, but the abilities themselves remain consistent, barring a few upgrades here and there.

IMO, both Cheetah and Circe are Diana's best arch-nemeses. Cheetah is basically in a constant competition with Wonder Woman on various levels, and Circe is basically Wonder Woman's version of The Wicked Queen from Snow White. Cheetah HATES Wonder Woman for being so perfect, while Circe HATES Wonder Woman for existing to begin with. Giganta is good, too. But her original origin is weird (she's a gorilla that was turned into a woman that could enlarge herself). The Doris Zeul origin is way too complicated for her to be a real arch-nemesis, since she's more sympathetic than either Cheetah or Circe. Hercules is more of an arch-nemesis to Diana than Ares, overall.

This. This was the angle that Rucka was going to play up before his initial run on WW got terminated. Diana has the favor of her patron gods; Barbara is cursed by hers, and resents Diana because of it. Yet both are also victims of them as well; pawns in the games they play against one another.

Why is she constantly naked, anyway? I get that the fur covers it all up like clothes but she's still completely naked. Plus she does a lot of acrobatic stuff, really making use of the "feline agility" thing, you'd think those "supple breasts" plus the lack of a bra would add some unnecessary difficulty.
Not to mention how fucking awkward it would be. She must be pretty fucking confident with her body for a villain whose motivation is to change her body. But maybe that's the point; maybe she is hoping to weaponize her own nudity? Throw Wonder Woman off? She knows that Wonder Woman comes from a society of women and only women, so that kind of psychological warfare might make some sense to her.

What are you asking?
What if Wonder Woman had been cursed or underwent genetic experimentation or went through whatever the current writers decide to be Cheetah's origin in Cheetah's place?

She would gain the superpowers of Cheetah, though she already posses most of them (superhuman strength, agility, speed, durability) so she would just turn furry. Or maybe they stack? If that's the case Wonder Woman would be better at taking down bad guys. But, being a feline freak, she would be unfairly frowned upon for being different, the felicity of her messages ferociously fought against in disbelief for the specific reason of her refitted furry face.

If you mean what would happen to their relationship, I don't think it would go anywhere. Cheetah would just be another eccentric British archaeologist or cultist or privileged rich girl whose own privilege and wealth somehow made her psychotic. Somewhat interesting but no one a super hero like Wonder Woman should pay any particular attention to.

I guess that would be the real test on what her motivations truly are; if she would be offered a cure for her mutation or all the magic and riches she wanted, or to be rid of Wonder Woman once and for all, and she refused. To anyone more knowledgeable of capes than I am; has anything like that ever happened?

It's kind of like the popular "theories" that the Joker only does what he does because he's gay for Batman and wants attention.

He represents the self-made man that Superman flies in the face of. Everything that is perceived as making Superman special is what he was born with whilst Lex had to work and strive for everything that made him special. As such, Lex perceives Superman as the death of men like him and, with a tinge of jealousy, argues that he will only make it so everyone looks to the skies for a Superman before actually making an attempt to do things themselves.

He's the enlightenment era to Superman's religious era in that way too: He doesn't have that faith in higher power that is needed to believe and trust in Superman and that is why he constantly aims to bring him down to a human, mortal level.

I'd argue Lex is way more of an antithesis to Superman than Joker is to Batman.

It would certainly make her more unique as far as villains are concerned.

Cheetah is just an unfortunate character to build lore around though. The Greeks didnt know them, a lioness would fit that theme better. Leopards are much more dangerous and bloodthirsty animals. Jaguars have several angry evil gods in their image in native american mythology.

Cheetahs are just meek, endangered, fragile animals, not fearsome superpredators.

I don't think Cheetah powers are inherently evil. Depending on how Wonder Woman views and prioritizes combat ability based on her own image, Wonder Woman would either accept and utilize the new powers or go back to Paradise Island and look for some mythic cure.
And that would also depend on if the additional super strength agility and all that do stack onto what she already has, or if the extra powers, like heightened senses, are worth it.
As for how Wonder Woman would react to becoming a furry, there are multiple ways that could go. Despite all the strong independent woman stuff, looks do mean something to her. Everyone else certainly seems to put a lot of significance on how beautiful she is. And she is Greek; like classical, mythical Greek. The ancient Greeks held a lot of interest and meaning in physical beauty. And how could Superman or Steve ever love some cat mutant? I'm like 80% certain neither or them are furries.

But maybe Wonder Woman Wonder Cat? would find some other form of beauty in her new form, as a powerful, animalistic huntress. Appreciation for nature and it's power is another thing both ancient Greeks and Wonder Woman have shown some appreciation for.

For the animated series Cheetah, her whole motivation is wanting to lose her powers. She turned herself into a mutant to prove a point, the point was proven, so now she wants to change back. If Wonder Woman stole those powers, she'd get exactly what she wanted. Though then, with less interest or ability to be with Wonder Woman, that might upset her, but only when applying this 100% not canon lesbian thing.

But you said "Barbara". And that specific incarnation of Cheetah I actually don't know too much about. I'm reading the 1987 Wonder Woman right now, though, this thread sparked my interest in it. If thread's still up I'll add to this when I'm more informed.

Cheetahs are very fast, but only in short bursts of a minute or so, followed by a lot of rest. Maybe make that into something? Give Cheetah a minute of super super speed a day or something like that? That could even the odds with Wonder Woman a little.
Really one of the first steps to making her an interesting character would be to make her relevant, as in an actual threat and not just a full-time jobber.
Though "short period of super super powers followed by long period of recovery" is more of a weeb thing than a capeshit thing.

One of the only people from her rogues gallery who isn't stupid, creepy, can be made iconic and can be used as a villaness that she can take on.

That's about it.
The JLU version of cheetah was absolute trash. Mainly because no one really likes WW and her stories are oft the weakest part of the series. She's such garbage in the timmiverse they actually had to 86 she-worf hawk woman and give her her characterization and personality traits.

In comics she's basically the evil female version of WW. She's a selfish woman who gains magical power from /is cursed by gods.
Not really much but it's enough to give her a servicable villian.

Now there's a fucking thought. Wonder Woman is all about, or at least supposed to be all about, helping and healing, the way of the godesses, as opposed to killing or hurting, the way of men and of Ares. If she really wanted to help her enemy, she should take her to Paradise Island.

Cheetah would really benefit from the experience. The Amazons, some of them at least, would be more open-minded and welcoming of her bestial form than those in man's world. There she could indulge in violent urges freely in tournaments and sparring.
Plus, she is an archaeologist. Whatever she is now, she spent years studying ancient cultures, she must have at some point had some fascination with that kind of stuff. The archaeologist in her would love to see a living classic Greek city.

And if any of this lesbian discussion we've been having is true, she'd definitely enjoy Paradise Island for related reasons.

She could be someplace where she would be accepted, possibly only after proving herself as a fierce warrior, indulge in her curiosity both archaeological and homosexual and maybe learn the error of her ways or be set on a better path. It would certainly give her plenty of perspective.

That's literally Golden Age Wonder Woman. Hell, a number of her villains weren't used again because they were reformed by the Amazons on an island just off Paradise Island.

Why is she so underused?

I've been looking through the "appearances" portion of the pages on the DC wiki of her various incarnations, and there's really not a lot. It's all just one appearance every 50 issues in which she has one line then goes back to the background.
The 1987 Wonder Woman series seems to have two "arcs", issues 7-10 in which she has a couple pages every issue until the 10th one where she's actually relevant, and then one more much longer one, issues 28-35, which I just started on.

Are there any better appearances for her? Any good episodes in any cartoon or a movie, maybe?

Also, here's a couple interesting facts I found on her wikipedia page looking for good Cheetah

and her Justice League animated series incarnation is feelsy as all hell
>once a scientist who was involved in valuable genetic research. However, she explains that her funding was running out, and she was unable to perform proper experiments. She is meant to die, at least, but due to "animation/continuity errors" she appears as a minor character seen a couple times in the background with no lines afterwards.
I'm not really sure which is the worst fate.

I think too many people focus on the physical aspect of Diana, so this would be a good way for her to have an enemy that can't be undone just with swords.

I really don't know. It's probably because most writers have a few villains they definitely want to write, and people don't actually read Wonder Woman so they don't have any ties to her villains. Even the series in the 70s didn't have recurring villains.

I like the version of her that's kind of an explorer that gets cursed, so if I were writing for DC, I'd use her as some kind of arcane relic fixer, sort of like Lex is to superscience: experimenting with things she doesn't understand on other people just to see what it'd do, getting paid to use her connections to find info on artifacts and ancient cultures, and trying to buy up everything she can just to have it.

Play up a covetous and possessive quality to her

They could do "CG makeup" like they did with The Vision. Record her on-set with tracking dots, and use CG for the parts that wouldn't look convincing with makeup.

The only recent movies that I can think of that used CG for animal-like humanoid characters besides Avatar is Ninja Turtles, and they are more animal than human (and reptiles no less). I am interested to see what the special effects and makeup artists could come up with when asked to turn a woman into a sexy anthropomorphic cheetah, for numerous reasons. We have the technology. I would have thought General Zod would be easy mode. Both versions of him in the movies were extremely theatrical for different reasons. In the Reeve films he was like an apathetic god who saw killing humans as no different from stepping on ants. In Man of Steel he was more like a superpowered bully who didn't want to share with the backwards earth people, and had the personality of a Space Marine from Warhammer 40k. Both versions were entertaining and memorable.

Ironically it's the comics that seem to struggle figuring out what to do with Zod more than the movies. And Injustice gave him those stupid not-Riddick goggles.

She was popular enough to be one of a few villains given a five minute head start by the Justice League as a reprieve after they helped defend the Earth from Darkseid during the last episode of JLU.

When I was young, I went to Africa, and actually got up close and personal with cheetah's and lion cubs. Kind of regret that I didn't cuddle them more. One of the lion cubs (they were already pretty big) bit my sister, and despite it being a playful bite, we went out. Real shame.

If I were doing a Wonder Woman reboot, I'd introduce Barbra as a human Indiana Jones-type explorer. Since she's obsessed with ancient cultures and shit, she talks Wonder Woman into letting her be the first human to see Themyscira. She spends a few weeks there studying the artifacts and learning about their way of life, including training with them. Since Wonder Woman is an ambassador to the human world, she'd be an ambassador of sorts from the human world. Then she ends up stealing shit or something, which makes the amazons extremely distrustful of humans and makes Wonder Woman's job harder.

Then in a later story, she finds the cursed artifact that turns her into a cat person and enhances her physical abilities to be on-par with Wonder Woman. Since she spent time studying Paradise Island, she's very knowledgeable about Wonder Woman's culture and history and isn't afraid to use it to play mind games her. Although she usually sticks to raiding temples and she that she shouldn't, she's not above occasionally going after Wonder Woman personally to try to get information out of her and/or trying to put her in a compromising situation in exchange for more relics from her homeland.

Her habit of constantly using underhanded tactics to get what she wants pisses off Wonder Woman to no end, on top of the whole "severely damaged relations between humans and amazons" thing. Between explorations, Cheetah is just a high-society woman who has everything she wants in life and sees Wonder Woman as nothing more than a tool to get more just for the sake of getting more (and, because she's an alpha bitch, she gets a kick out of flaunting superiority over her).

Alright. We got several ideas for how to write Cheetah.

1. DCAU inspired version taking some cues from the second Cheetah Deborah Domaine. A "tragic" Cheetah forced into the role by a mishap with magic or science, maybe even both. She tries breaking magical taboos to cure herself and this brings her into conflict with Wonder Woman. She strengthens the "nurturing" aspect of Wonder Woman. Diana "beats" Cheetah not by defeating her in a fight. She beats her by convincing her to trust her and finding a way to cure her, or convince her to live with her new cat self.

2. Working off the idea of a "good" Cheetah, a Cheetah that redeems herself by joining the Amazons on paradise island. With plenty of strong opponents to spar against and ways to satiate her libido the Amazons work on making her a good person.

3. Evil Lara Croft. She wants to unearth all the ancient magical secrets and damn be the consequences to herself or others. She could be to magic what Lex Luthor is to technology. But this is a risky interpretation as she usually fights physically and savagely with Wonder Woman, and having her cast spells or use magical artifacts could detract from that element.

4. Paul von Gunteer. Made immortal by transforming into the Cheetah her existence plays on the "timeless immortal" aspect of Wonder Woman. She has enemies from Classical Greece still around to menace her, and now she has a Nazi. Also, a catgirl with a German accent. Maybe throw in some other Nazis like Captain Nazi and those guys from Geoff Johns JSA as her catspaws?

Which one should Cheetah be? Should there be several Cheetahs?

The scientist who swapped brains woth a gorilla? She worked for him, it was never really brought up in a significant way though.

DCAU is the first one where they actually were connected in a meaningful way. She was a regular gorilla who wanted to be human to wear pretty clothes and date human men (something that sort of happened in real life, scientists raising a gorilla accidently ended up with her identifying as human and not getting along with other gorillas. Unrelated to Koko, the gorilla who reached the intelligence of a ten year old human, who was just really fond of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood) and Grodd made it happen if he could give her powers and use her as a henchman. It was odd, he used his scientist human girlfriend as a tool because she was just a human, but was totally supportive of Giganta's desire to be a human. I guess what mattered to him is if you're born gorilla or not. Plus he was also fucking Enchantress, so he sort of had a human fetish himself.

Keeping her a cat would also be the best option for that, as you can turn it into a theme on accepting her new self and learning some self control and respect for what is a uniquely beautiful form, two principles the Amazons and Wonder Woman embrace and advocate, as well as give her potential as a recurring character who can actually be useful.

I don't think too many people would be upset at such a drastic change because not too many people care about her at all, and of those that do a good deal are of similar attitudes towards Cheetah as us; they would like this new take on her.

And for the purists who do want Cheetah to stay the ineffectual jobbing villain, go with the multiple Cheetahs. As a second, evil Cheetah, both 3 and 4 would work, but 4 might be better in that it revitalizes Wonder Woman's conflict against Nazis, which used to be a big deal for her.

And maybe the Cheetahs could be connected? The good Cheetah a test subject for Gunteer or rival archaeologist cursed by Evil Lara Croft?

Also, the good Cheetah being an archaeologist or a scientist would be unnecessary but very nice. Nerdy Cheetah is cute as all hell, senpai.

The Good Cheetah was a student under Paula/Evil Lara. She trusted her teacher and got turned into a cat because of it. This has given her a complex about trusting people and compels her to try curing herself all on her own.

The Amazons help her learn to trust people again, and in return she works as a scientist for them, combining magic and science. In this continuity she could be the one that makes The Invisible Jet .

I think it'll be cute if in this big library of toga clad Amazons there's this catgirl with a white labcoat, coffee, and labtop.

Two or Three Cheetahs doesn't seem like too much, especially if we keep them related. I remember there were two Cheetahs at one time. One a dude.

I think it'd be better to give each character their own identity than have multiple Cheetah's running around. Here's my ideas:

Priscilla Rich: Woman who gained immortality by repeatedly mindswapping with her daughters. She then ritually sacrifices her children in her old body to empower herself by consuming their lifeforce.

Deborah Domaine: Black ops soldier turned merc, specializes in superpowered targets using cutting edge and experimental tech and weaponry.

Sebastian Ballesteros: Retain his original role as a business tycoon and downplay or remove his connection to Circe. Unlike Veronica Cale or Lex Luthor he attempts to weaponize then monetize mysticism rather than science.

Good Cheetah becomes Diana's sparring partner. She trains her in Amazonian martial arts to control her savage instincts. I don't know. I think we're on to something by having a good and evil Cheetah. I like that Good Cheetah was her student and got turned into a catgirl because of it. Her desire to take vengeance and the trust issues stemming from her being betrayed by evil Cheetah could add to her character. Diana works to channel the pain and anger Good Cheetah feels toward positive ends. It inspires her toward performing magic-science experiments to one-up her teacher, but it could tempt her to try fighting Evil Cheetah on her own,

I'm starting to really like this good cheetah/evil cheetah thing we have going. It's a great way to accomplish a lot of story goals. It reintroduces Paula. It makes Cheetah a critical part of Wonder Woman's lore. It gives her another ally. It gives Wonder Woman a victory not won through force but through kindness and patience.

I love the lesbian angle by the way.

Some people thought how cool it would be if Angel Man was done like Lupin III, only to discover he's already been written that way.

Evil Laura Croft Cheetah could be a descendent of von Gunteer, who Wonder Woman fought back in WW2. She gets cursed and turns yellow/gets spots and claws and magic powers. Does all kind of screwy magic experiments and makes people fall into curses so she can figure out what relics do and build a collection. Basically she does what Lex Luthor does with science stuff.

DCAU Cheetah is a lackey of hers, or someone she has connections to, who gets either cursed by Bad Cheetah or mutated, probably in an accident related to Bad Cheetah wanting to undo her own curse. Wonder Woman can send her off to Paradise Island to be reformed and be an occasional ally.

I really think Cheetah should always be treated as Wonder Woman's opposite number and nemesis. Circe should be more like Brainiac is to Superman- technically a bigger threat, but not an ideological opposite.

I want to do something with Blue Snowman.

So we got a woman that dresses up in a male snowman suit and extorts money with magic snow.

I'm tempted to make her some sort of weird snow creature frustrated that she doesn't have an actual gender as a living mass of snow. Maybe we can do something fairy tale with her? Isolated princess from a magical kingdom near the North Pole cursed to be a shapeless snowman?

Or we could make her a "magic mercenary" like Paula/Evil Cheetah. Her armor is powered by waters from the river Cocytus from the Underworld allowing her to freeze shit. Her story arm revolves around her trying to get samples from the other rivers of Hades and by doing do stirs up shit when her mercenary team marches through the underworld.

Or we could do a third option and sort of mix these two ideas. She's a magic robot-golem. Maybe one of Paula's experiments. She wants to be a real girl and despises her bulky war-bot appearance. This, for better or worse, makes her like our Good Cheetah idea. A Wonder Woman bad girl uncomfortable with her form. But to take it a step further have her want to have a real soul as well as a body.

She wants to manufacture a soul and stuff it inside her, thinking this will make her happy. So she finds out that back in WW2 she and other German Snow-bots were created from samples taken from Paula's first expedition into the underworld. She finds a gate to the Underworld used by the Nazis and starts gathering samples of the rivers to power up her armor and souls to find out how to create/imprison one.

It takes the Pinnochio story further. She doesn't just want a body. She wants a soul, even if she has to drag one kicking and screaming inside her icy heart. Play up the "girl inside man" aspect. She's a hurt creature trapped inside a metal body, and she's projecting that by trying to trap souls inside her cold, cold heart.

So Blue Snowman?

On the personal level you could make it work by Cheetah being the person to break Diana's naive notion of women being inherently good that she's picked up through living on Themiscyra. She may be shocked by Dr. Psycho and the like, but she has already heard of the evils of Man's World, and he's just proof. Cheetah, as a selfish, petty, vindictive, etcetera woman shakes her long-held ideas of female benevolence.

I really like the idea of Blue Snowman having some type of techno-magic armor. And a lot of Wonder Woman's rouges, even Cheetah, seem to be villains-for-hire, so that fits too. The angle of all those villains being created or hired by one person just to take on Wonder Woman would be really cool, sort of like how in Superman TAS Lex creates most of Superman's villains, either by accident or intentionally.

How about this: Cheetah gets ahold of some kind of underworld waters, like you said, and has it used to power some kind of suit. Then some unlucky girl gets made to test it. You could play up her being sort of meek and feminine outside the suit, but while she is using the suit she's got power for the first time and uses it to take what she wants.

That could potentially play into Wonder Woman's exploration of gender dynamics somehow, too. Or perhaps after a certain point Byrna stops seeing herself as anything BUT the suit.

tl;dr: what if Metallo becoming Metallo basically gave him everything he ever wanted, and he was eager to let himself become something else?

I think the "made from water from the Greek underworld" idea is really interesting, a has a lot of potential; the one Greek underworld river everyone knows about is Styx, but there are a total of five, and each river is unique.

You already said that she could use the water from Cocytus to freeze things, and that she could stirring up shit with samples from other rivers.
Water from Lethe could be used to make people fall asleep. One of Wonder Woman's lesser known abilities is a resistance to drugs that all Amazons are trained in, but against magic water that would have no effect. Or it could even be used to make people forget, either specific events or periods of time, or just full-blown amnesia.

Acheron, river of pain, could be used for torture, I guess?
Phlegethon, river of fire, could, with some artistic license, be made to give some kind of "cold fire" ability. Or maybe it really is just liquid fire, in which case, Blue Snowman would have to be really careful with that one.

The Oceanus "circles the underworld". Maybe it acts as a barrier between living world and underworld, in which case Blue Snowman could attempt to control it to let ghosts loose for whatever plot?

Any other ideas on how these different rivers could give different abilities?

These two can easily be folded into Paula's character. Dr. Poison is either one simply one of the many aliases she had during WW2 or was one of her flunkies. She either somehow made the jump to the modern world with Paula or died back in WW2. I'm sort of partial to having her be a historical figure, something to expand the lore. We see her in flashbacks and museums and that's it. If we -do- bring her to the modern era we could have her as an enemy to Cheetah-Paula. She's upset because Paula achieved immortality by turning into a sexy cat lady and she had to do it the hard way by turning into a Frankenstein freak kept alive by pumping herself full of potions.

Zara is high priestess of the cult of the crimson flame. The cult is like a modern day Thule Society. They preserve all the dark secrets the Nazis unearthed. They're how Paula recruits flunkies and how she figured out how to become a cat lady. The cult emphasizes the supposed virtues of blind submission and forceful domination--anti Amazonian philosophy basically.

As a further twist, have the Cult of the Crimson Flame apply Nazi theories of singular virtue to magic. They see magic as a having a single ultimate cause and ultimate end. This pure magic has been defiled by the numerous degenerate cultures and magical theories of the world creating a "magical network" that is chaotic and random. They hate this. They want magic to work like a science. One cause, one effect. The solution is to destroy anything they consider "magically deviant".

So even though her backers (probably Paula) give her the suit that does anything she wants and makes her feel powerful they use her dependence on it as a leash to control her.

Should we do a Getter thing and have the suit partially "alive" and intent on devouring Byrna? As she becomes less of a person the suit becomes more and more alive?

I remember the Greek Play Medea had Medea create a dress that killed the woman that wore it. Maybe we can do something with that element? The Snowman suit is just that dress updated through centuries of magical and technological enhancements.

Lethe could be the Golem-Snowman's "holy grail". In the Myth of Ur souls drank from it before they were reincarnated. Maybe she wants to use the waters to mind-blank souls so that when she stuff them in her heart they might in their confusion think they're actually -her- soul.

What you're describing is more a revamp of Minister Blizzard crossed with Princess Snowina.

Here's my idea for Blue Snowman:

Byrna Brilyant is a dissatisfied small town high school math teacher in an unhappy marriage to a superhero fanboy. Finally quitting her teaching gig after landing her dream job, a robotics engineering position developing hardsuits for hazardous conditions. However, after a few short weeks the project is cancelled and Byrna laid off after protests from women's group about the lack of women in STEM positions cause the firm's backers, not wanting negative publicity, to pull out their investments. Byrna, already upset that she lost her engineering job because some people thought there weren't enough women engineers, comes home to find her husband blew their life savings, and committed a few felonies, on the purchase of one of Mr. Freeze's freeze guns. So Byrna did what any reasonable person would do, she froze her husband in a block of ice, broke into her old workplace, stole a powersuit, and rampaged across a college campus in an attempt to destroy the gender studies department. Being an origin story, WW happens to be giving a speech on campus and stops her.

Byrna gets off pretty light due to her circumstances and spends a few years in jail. Upon release she finds she can no longer teach, her now ex-husband already sold the story rights, and she's blacklisted from the robotics industry. To make matters worse, after seeing the suit in combat against WW her old firm was able to pick up a fat government contract for powered armor and all her former coworkers are successful. So Byrna does what Byrna does best. She steals a power suit and injures her husband before embarking on villainy.

Visually I was thinking of a 40s-50s styling for both Byrna and the Blue Snowman with the Blue Snowman suit looking like a cross between a WW2 aircraft, complete with beefcake pinup, and a post-war automobile.

She's like Blue Snowman. A woman who hides behind a masculine disguise. Her story is very pulp. She's a stage magician that gets shot in the head and develops mind-powers.

Maybe make the masculine disguise some sort of idealized psychic projection? She wants to be a powerful super villain and so she projects what she thinks is a powerful super villain over herself.

We can make this psychic projection a lot of things. A sexy genie girl. A Lovecraftian monster. Zatanna. Whatever symbol she wants to hide behind she projects. So when fighting it might be something fierce. When trying to pick up a guy it might be something sexy.

Have her be a distant descendant of (insert mythological figure associated with illusions here). The trauma of being shot in the head brought out the innate powers in her blood.

Her mythic ancestors reject her completely, and she takes this out by mind controlling people to be her slaves.

I had no idea those characters existed. Holy crap, I have a secret soft spot for kingdoms of ice with ice people.

I like this Byrna. Her main characteristic seems to be that she reacts to adversity the wrong way and makes things worse for herself and others. Instead of facing problems as her own vulnerable self she resorts to violence (the suit).

Very interesting. She carries a message without being preachy.

Also, harking back to her Golden Age incarnation who didn't create the blue snow, this versions gear is comprised of stuff from other villains built and modified by Byrna. Freeze rays based on Mr. Freeze's tech, blizzard generators created out of bits of Weather Wizard's wand, skating around on self-generating ice ala Golden Glider, that sort of thing.
