But towards the end of the run (and about ten years in story time) EVERYONE BUT the criminal elements of Metropolis realize they're one in the same. Not because 'they look alike' but because as people interact with Clark Kent and see Superman, they realize they actually do behave in the same, honest, humble, sweet, and compassionate way. And they realize what it really means to be superman, and a sign Clark's made a difference because he's shown humanity a better way.
