One of the reason many enjoyed Huyssies' work is that his tales always seemed to go everywhere, yet once in a while, everything connected, everyt thread lead to somewhere that not only actually made snese, but was quite entertaining too. It was the Hussie Wow effect.
This is why people were good with the mess that Homsetuck was, because once in a while it made all the head scratching worth it. It was like reading a big Puzzle/enigma that only showed the real big picture with the last piece.
It was even more entertaining because those big moments often were set during a flash. And (I know I am a bit of an exception, there), Hussie always managed to deliver up until Terezi: Remember. I consider it his last good flash, with the reveal of all the player ggoing through God Tier actually being dead.
Collide was, for me, the first thing that there was a problem, because, while the fights were cool, it was just this, a big fight and nothing else, no big reveal, no lose threads finally tying together; Just a fight that only brought some questions. And even that would have been okay, if some of the lose threads had been addressed afterwards.
Then came the Final of Act 7. And I wouldn't have called it a bad ending. Great animation, touching moment, it was perfect for a final, if only...
Here is the thing, the way Homestuck end, for me ,feel like there is a big fucking chunk missing between Collide and Act 7. One final Wow effect Hussie used to deliver, but didn't. One final move that would ahave made all the lose plots finally tie together like Hussie had managed to do in the past.
But it's not there.
It's not that the final is bad, it's that something is missing. As if Hussie had given up during the last hiatus.
That's my perception of the situation, anyway.
