>>81549088Nobodies saying they don't have one sex, that's fully possible now. But there's no evidence of it. When people throw around the term 'hermaphrodite' they're conflating sexual differences with different genitalia. We've had no indication of whether or not male and female trolls have different sex-organs, or even what kind of sex-anatomy they have.
We do know female trolls have boobs, male trolls don't. As far as we know that's what defines the extent of a troll's sex.
I'm not saying they are or aren't hermaphrodites (Because we cannot really know), but in HUMAN terms they aren't because they referring to hermaphrodite in terms of other species and their parts. That is, their tits and milk glands and whatnot. That seems to be more of an auxiliary sexual asset that still exists on troll world, in their lusus's and fauna for instance. Author having an utter for instance.
It's possible both or different types of sexual genitals exist on Alternia, but Trolls are weird in that they only have one unlike their other species. It would just mean the context of Hermaphrodite is much different then ours, since it's an asset used only in the context outside their biology.
Imagine if humans, male and female, only penises, one sex, some animals had penises and vaginas separate, and a third category had both sexes but uniformly. We'd probably have a word for them and from out perspective they'd be hermaphrodites still.
