>>81315197>You look like a huge jackass acting like Winter Soldier was free of 'quips' or that everyone of them went off without a hitch or was hilariousHonestly, there weren't any real gut-busters in Winter Soldier. Quips like the "big breakfast" thing and "I'm here to pick up a fossil" were okay, but not great, but they didn't seen to distract as much as the comedy beats in Age of Ultron.
Let me set out a comparison.
In Age of Ultron, there's a scene where Hawkeye gets annoyed with Quicksilver, and pantomimes shooting him, and sort of jokes to himself that no one would ever know. Now the problem with that is that he's wasting time doing that, when he should be running to the next Ultron wave, making sure the mission goes smoothly. It actually doesn't relieve the tension of a scene, it just shifts it from "Jeez, things are really dire." to "Do the heroes think things are dire? Are they taking this seriously?"
Compare that to the "I had a big breakfast" line, a callback to the fact that he had breakfast at Sam's place. It's good-natured ribbing that seems to be helping them get through a dire situation. It doesn't waste time, because they say it while running, and it's quick. It works in the scene, even if it's not that funny, because it fits the characters and mood.
