a guy is told to draw a trashcan 50 times in different ways, and then the art director comes and tells him he likes trashcan 4, 13, and 32, then tells him to draw 50 more trashcans like those, and then the guy gets told the trashcan was no longer in the scene and gets handed another task.
like 80% of concept art is stuff that doesn't make it into the film and only a small chunk of that is the fun stuff like character design and final environment design. trust me, promotional art and the final parts of concept and design are the only interesting things you'll wanna see.
