Batman has to go to space to fill in for Hal Jordan as Green Lantern (due to a head injury involving a hamburger) so Superman has to work double duty in Metropolis and Gotham. But it just so happens that it's a day when Mxyzptlk returns and he merges the Metropolis and Gotham villains together. Superman teams up with Robin and Bat-Mite to capture all of them and turn them back to "normal."

Superman forces the Daily Planet to print articles consisting only of the word "SUPERMAN" every day. People think he's gone mad, but it's all an elaborate plot to deceive a master criminal who only commits crimes on days when Superman is not in the paper. Eventually the guy gets infuriated and tries to commit some crimes anyway, leading to his capture by a waiting Superman (who figured out where he'd be criming through some convoluted silver age bullshit). The villain is locked up, cursing the fact that if he had only followed his lucky omen, he'd be free (thus delivering the insane "moral" that characterizes a good silver age story).

Jimmy and Superman team up to create a rival paper to the Daily Planet. Their newspaper is a sensational tabloid full of sleaze and libelous distortions, but threatens to put the Daily Planet out of business. Supes and Jimmy refuse to explain why they're doing this.

The twist? Clark is still working at the Daily Planet, trying hard to compete against the Supertabloid. In the end it's revealed that it was all a trick to show the merit of ethical reporting. No explanation is ever given for why Jimmy had to be in on the plan, or what role he even had in producing the Supertabloid.

Phase I had a story where a tabloid paper hires parasite to take photos of super heroes in their regular identity (because he would be able to sense their powers even when dressed normally).

Jimmy Olsen is being chased by a gang of weirdos interrupting his dates

Turns out they are from the future and are his kids! They are "mutants" because of all of Jimmy's various transformations .
The team is called O-Men (o for Olsen) and all wear green herringbone sports coats and red ties. (The wolverine analog O-Men is shirtless but still wears the jacket and bow tie)
They Have to go back in time to make sure Jimmy marries the right girl (the issue ends without knowing who the "right" girl really is)

70s (bronze age) is my favorite time for superman. The stories were longer and a bit more like "marvel" (Superman fought bad guys instead of just pulling pranks), but they retained their silver age history and characterization.

Supes had a bit more of his Golden age edge (though not really as insane as he was back then)

turns out Myx can't be president because he was actually born in the 6th dimension but got kicked out when he was a baby for being a brat and got an entire dimension subtracted from him

in another issue
its mothers day in the 5th dimension and Mr.Myx takes his mother to earth for vacation to bother superman. His mother is basically George Constanza's mother and nags him the whole time...but she falls in love with superman and wants to marry him...so now Myx and Supes have to team up to stop the wedding. (or maybe lois)

Actually I would do one this one like this:

Lex finds out the academy awards are going to be resculpted out of kryptonite, so he bankrolls an all-star film about Superman and tricks the real Superman into agreeing to star in it. Some drama about Clark Kent also having a starring role, probably. The movie wins at the academy awards and Luthor rubs his hands in glee - BUT it turns out Superman has used his superspeed, supervision and super disguising abilities to reshoot the whole thing with Lex playing the starring role and Lex is the one who has to receive the award. Luthor was too busy planning his scheme to ever actually watch the movie.

Superman shows up to take him back to Earth and luthor regains his memories but his wife is pregnant
and from that time on all the descendants shave their head in honor of their great ancestor Luth-Ur

(see he is Jax-Ur's great great great ..etc...grandfather)

Lex Luthor has a bunch of odds and ends evil schemes, Supes easily puts a stop to them. It turns Lex was using Supes to commit insurance fraud and the IRS attempts to arrest both.
