Snyder isn't good enough to direct him. Michael Shannon can act circles around Cavill, and did, and he was actually pretty good in MoS, but it was still one of his lesser performances. Each actor in MoS was giving one of their weaker performances. Snyder can't into actors.
He can make something look geometrically beautiful (framing, blocking, etc), before adding his shit filters. He can direct action, but he can't direct a scene to ease the CGI integration in it, so it all looks kind of like a video game. He can get a half-decent plot, but then butchers it all in edtiting and tone.
His job should be 'casting filming crews', since he does manage to gather pretty great talent. He's just a slightly more pretentious Michael Bay like that.
I still have hope in BvS, but like the fat douchebag up-top (the one that isn't faraci or moviebob and breathes loud as fuck) said: they need the vision of someone smarter than Snyder. They need their equivalent of Feige. You may have your opinions on the MCU, but it is consistent, and (for the most part) follows a cohesive style and general plot. The closest thing the DCEU has is Snyder, but he's still bound by producers. And he just likes the pictures and tries to connect everything half-assed. Fucking watchmen is a better example of this than MoS. The thing he liked about watchmen, were the pictures and Rorcharch. The dude just doesn't get it. He doesn't get 'contemplative' or 'confident' without broody and angry, just like Whedon doesn't get 'earnest' without 'acting like your uncool uncle'. They just don't get it, and they were both ruining their own shit. Glad Whedon left, and I hope Snyder would do the same. The other directors actually seem pretty great.
They need someone that can look at a comic book and see more than just the pictures and the jokes.
