Love 'em, at least as horrific monsters. I don't really "get" the appeal of zombies. They're retarded, lumbering vampires, so a lot of PIS is required in order to turn them into a threat. Vampires have hundreds of years of experience stalking human prey and killing vampire hunters, and are capable of blending in as one of us. The oldest among them tend to be godlike in power, and especially difficult to get rid of. If a setting has magic, they're typically smart enough to learn it, and have centuries to become more proficient at it than any human magus could ever hope for.
>>79445456Clan Ventrue vampires, of Vampire the Masquerade, will actually vomit if they attempt to drink the blood of low quality humans, such as prostitutes and homeless people. Rats and animals obviously cause a similar reaction, and for other clans, unliving off of this shit is still very difficult to pull off. Draining PhD's is apparently like drinking fine wine for them. Alucard of Hellsing similar complains about the shittiness of Richard Hellsing's blood. Quality of the victim = quality of the blood in many settings.
>>79444039Vampires really did derail after this became the case, because the drawbacks began to be depicted as nil. There are all these themes in Bram Stoker's novel about the false allure of sin and of power that ultimately originated from the devil, that required the seduced to commit horrific acts. You can tell that a setting has shitty vampires when it complete secularizes them and turns them into superheroes. I think the Twilight boom collapsed when normalfags discovered the later.
>>79444779VtM vampires are apparently damned regardless of how they conduct themselves as vampires before they're eventually destroyed.
>>79441784Bram Stoker vampires were eliminated by filling their mouths with garlic and staking them before cutting off their heads. It was not kid friendly.
