you can say that when you use the word, you dont mean gay. thats fine. you can say youre trying to "reclaim it" or "take away its power" or whatever, thats fine too. but you still know what the word means.
fag and faggot are pejorative terms for homosexuals. this is just a fact. whatever context you use it in, you might not be using it to mean gay, but the word is still a homophobic slur, regardless of the context in which its being used.
and to be honest with you, in a real life not 4chan situation, if somebody drops a fag or a faggot in conversation, i dont immediately assume they hate gay people. it just makes me think theyre immature and tacky. like calling something "retarded" or whatever, its just a teenagery way to talk.
