Why exactly did she form Malachite? Lapis Lazuli is supposed to be one of the most powerful Gems we've seen yet (so much that she can easily take on the Crystal Gems with a cracked gem and still have great hydrokinetic capabilities). She could have just as easily trapped Jasper in the ocean and gotten away. Was this an attempt to make her look noble by having her sacrifice herself to the planet's ocean? What does forcing yourself into a fusion with someone you hate at the bottom of the ocean even accomplish other than a strange sense of justice that only seems to apply to this situation?

Also, human bodies are mostly water as are many other animals. Do you think she was able to manipulate the water in human bodies to help make her bridge to Homeworld higher?
