MLP History and Age:
Following the original My Pretty Pony toy, introduced in 1981, My Little Pony was launched in 1983 and the line became popular during the 1980s. The predecessor to My Little Pony was My Pretty Pony, a pony figurine introduced by Hasbro in 1981, created by illustrator Bonnie Zacherle, working with sculptor Charles
Muenchinger. My Pretty Pony was a 10" tall hard plastic figurine that could wiggle its ears, swish its tail, and wink one eye. The original My Pretty Pony was followed by My Pretty Pony and Beautiful Baby which came with an additional smaller "baby" pony figure. This was followed by pink and yellow versions of the original, which had the now-hallmark symbol on the ponies' backside. An animated television series, My Little Pony, ran from 1986 to 1987 (Known as Gen 1)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle History
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared in an American comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984 in Dover, New Hampshire. The concept arose from a humorous drawing sketched out by Eastman during a casual evening of brainstorming and bad television with Laird.[3] Using money from a tax refund, together with a loan from Eastman’s uncle, the young artists self-published a single-issue comic intended to parody four of the most popular comics of the early 1980s: Marvel Comics’ Daredevil and New Mutants, Dave Sim’s Cerebus, and Frank Miller’s Ronin.[4] The TMNT comic series has been published in various incarnations by various comic book companies since 1984.
. The show then went network, on CBS. Accompanied by the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 TV series, and the subsequent action figure line, the TMNT were soon catapulted into pop culture history.
So The MLP Toys beat out the Comic, but the TMNT show came out first.
Huh the more you know.
