>>78655862The Motion Picture Production Code was created in the early 1930s as a backlash against the raunchiness of Hollywood during the Roaring Twenties when movies were often bordering on pornography. It stipulated the following:
*Nudity or sexual scenes may not be shown
*Police, teachers, and other authority figures must be shown respectfully and in a positive light
*Religion and members of the clergy must be treated respectfully
*Passionate kissing may not be shown, only a quick peck on the lips
*Any mention of homosexuals or homosexuality is forbidden
*Couples may not kiss in bed unless one person's foot is on the floor
*Criminals and evildoers must always be depicted negatively and lose in the end
*Criminal acts may not be directly shown, only implied
*Graphic violence may not be shown
*All races and cultures must be depicted fairly and respectfully (as you can imagine, this rule was interpreted in a very elastic manner)
In 1966, it was repealed and replaced by the MPAA rating system.
