Because Gendy spends the entire show with Jack killing or defeating people left and right, but people kind of dont care for who they are....

Them he makes episodes focusing on them, so you know that they arent just mindless things.

X9 episode WAS ENTIRELY MADE to show that "its a robot" isnt that great of an excuse to dont feel anything when they are killed.

It poked fun at the idea that you can kill robots on any gore way, and that its doesnt matter if they have feelings, feel pain or are affraid.

Same goes with the bounty hunters. The entire episode was "hey, these guys that Jack is always fighting? They have tjeir own stories, motives and objectives too!"

Jack and the Travelling Creatures will always be my favorite.

Definitely not to be confused with Jack and the Creature, which is like the next episode. I'm assuming that episode was as shit as it was because Genndy and the crew were focusing so much on the previous one.

Also if the show is presumably going to be 16:9 now, does that mean that we won't get those constant shifts between fullscreen and letterboxed?

Not that I minded that, I just don't know if it would work as well with the new aspect ratio.

Samurai Jack is art. I think the first episode gets overlooked a lot. It's pacing, music, and the very first fight with Aku was beautifully done. Remember when Aku first assaulted japan and you hear those gongs hitting when he just laughs at the archer assault? One of the first of many memorable moments in my book

Jack and the Lava Monster.

I love the how the first 1/3 is essentially just Jack travelling through a barren wasteland, the howling wind coupled with the beckoning calls of the viking hero making it incredibly ominious and building up tension to the 2/3 where he navigates the volcano's traps

One of the best examples of the show's mastery of pacing

I always found Jack's world to be really weird.
Some places would be incredibly advanced, some place were advanced and dystopic, some mythical and ancient, and others yet more contemporary.
The Scotsman himself just felt like a character out of time.

It was allover the place; a mishmash of various fictions.

it's aku, where aku's reach went he punished those into obscurity and poverty, much like 3rd world countries of today when compared to the united states or other more advanced societies. notice how pretty much any city that had any technological advancement at all is either destroyed by aku, getting destroyed by aku, or controlled by aku.

made sense to me, he had like 6000 years to impoverish who he wished and enrich what he liked. Europe suffered pretty damn hard it looks like from aku judging by all the medieval looking architecture in the poorer places.

i think it would be pretty kick ass if the series started off with jack looking just like that just to illustrate that all these years we have been waiting for his glorious return he was still fighting the good fight.

Not that the show needs anime style blood jets, but half the time he's fighting aliens and mutants. They could have green blood or some shit.

Even when I was younger it never made sense why an enemy who has never shown any signs of being a robot is suddenly a robot once jacks cuts into it.

I've never seen the show, but I loved Dexter's Laboratory and enjoyed Sym-Bionic Titan. I'm hesitant to download it because as much as I like Genndy's work, I'm not much of an action person. Action sequences tend to bore me. I'm someone who watches The Avengers for the quips and Evangelion for the character drama, and thinks Star Wars is overrated and mediocre.

that's what makes a good evil honestly. A lot of villians from 80s-90s area had terrible records against their foes which made them seem like a joke. Although Akus plans to kill jack usually fail, aku usually outsmarts jack and generally succeeds in his goals making him more threatening to the audience.

It also makes jacks victories against aku all the more sweet.

Only when they're not terrifying.

The entire episode where the two of them decide to fight "fair" was absolutely hilarious.

And then there's the episode where Aku gets his hands on Jack's sword, and Aku starts taunting him about how he can never hide because Aku can smell his blood.

Rarely do you get a villain/hero relationship that works so well in comedy and conflict.

I liked the show because it was about a Samurai fucking shit up. The Samurai fad was big and I loved that shit..
Now that I go back to it, I guess I like it now because it's a show that's artsy without feeling like it's being pretentious. The show feels genuine enough that you look at it and say "Hey, I guess the creators really liked X thing and are paying homage and having fun with it." The funny moments, the grandiose moments, the emotional moments never felt forced. Add to that both a hero and a villain that are quintessential (Sword Wielding Hero vs Evil Overlord), yet both are endearing enough to carry the show.

I remember watching that episode when it first aired. It was fucking terrifying. Jack running from Aku, who was going all at it. Jack getting caught in a zombie horde and having to fight them all. Finally, Aku growing to almost twice Jack's height and going apeshit with the sword.

Then that great, sweet moment when the sword does nothing and Aku's flames go out.

So I was reading through the wiki for some reason about Aku and his origins and I noticed that it mentions that Jack's father fought Aku back when he was a spiky forest or evil. Not only that, but he fought it while wearing "magical armour". I was just thinking that it would make sense that Jack and his father would have a similar silhouette and I read something about Jack's father being alive in the care of the elder gods. So either Jack has armour now for some reason, possibly once belonging to his father or we're about to see some family bonding. Or both.

The final episode will be a twist. It will be revealed that Aku never existed, and it's all been one bad acid trip. Jack's dad is trying to calm Jack down, but Jack keeps referring to him as Aku, and all the things he's done was just him going around killing people and talking to himself.

On the one hand Jack seemed to have more trouble taking out one BD than he did taking out an average bounty hunter; on the other hand he did take out an entire fucking army of them (albeit with an alien horse and at least 12 hours of prep time).

The BH all came at him physically and he reacted accordingly. The Imakandi were using traps and trying to subdue him. Jack knew that a headlong attack into them would most likely just result in him getting trapped, so he tried to flee.

Yes, people struggling was done many times, I'm just providing another background: the child of a dragon and a river godess that never gets either side's powers. The rest of the story being a cliche or nor, depends on how you pull it off.

I can hear it, actually. Sounds way less stilted than Mako's understudy in Avatar, but he is also missing a lot of the old man rasp that Mako had. He would either need to take up smoking or go real intense like in some bits of what you linked and risk mucking up his throat for a while.
