I mostly shoot skeet but I always buy at the very least 50-100 shells at a time. with smaller ammo you'd buy higher number of rounds at a time, and that's just average ammo sells, nothing unusual.
honestly the biggest problem is enforcement, how do you stop someone with mild mental problems form easily getting firearms. and how do you stop felons for getting access to them. currently there is no real solution, both sides of the argument are mostly retarded gun nuts want everyone armed, libs want to make existing restrictions harsher, both options make no difference. I would rather see all the loopholes closed first and make private gun sales MUCH more difficult (I personally know at least three people that have done private sales to known felons, it's not hard to get away with at all when it's just one on one and a small number of arms)
secondly, and every psycho gun nut hates it, but we need some sort of registry to keep track of who is responsible for what so the feds or police can enforce said private gun sale laws.
I don't do dumb shit with my firearms, I'm not worried about how many background checks, or if I'm on a list. but paranoia runs very very very deep in the gun nut world.
