He's a detective vigilante, who refuses to kill I imagine, if they're going to a Red Hood setup. Nolan's version while he doesn't exactly kill directly or often, does occasionally let bad guys die. He's not a knight or superhero, don't think Bats even thinks of himself as a hero and he's certainly not super.

I don't know where Eisenberg gets a negative reputation from, I think the neurotic roles he plays triggers neurotics.

Social Network was a great movie and he did a great job, even though it wasn't a faithful portrayal of Zuckerberg.

The general opinion it seems on Tim, from a modern writers standpoint, is that he makes Jason's death less powerful.

In truth it has the ability to make Jason's return better because now he gets to return and see how quick he was replaced, how little Bruce changed, how the man who killed him is still alive and well.

Indeed, it can be used to fuel his anger, but depending on if they think it's a bit confusing to have so multiple Robins in a sense they could just focus on him being angry about Bats not killing Joker. Plus isn't Bruce in semi-retirement when the MoS incident basically brings him back or something? Or was that an early draft of their concept or something?

Just chiming in to agree with you there, but the delivery is pretty annoying. If it were said like more authoritatively the villain in Ant-Man (I'm not comparing quality, I'm just talking about his voice and mannerisms), it would bear more respect and make for a more menacing villain.

He isn't menacing, he's grating and overly-familiar because he doesn't actually respect anyone. By the end of the movie he might transition into something a little more traditionally frightening (the "if man won't kill God, the devil will" was pretty rough) but he played the part as presented pretty well.
