>>77390734>Only a Sith speak in absolutes!I can't believe someone didn't slap George because of that. I mean, the whole conversation is just really fucking weird. Anakin is basically saying that the world is subjective, and that he just ended the war and is trying to save his wife's life, and Obiwan flips the fuck out because the first rule of being a jedi is "don't join the dark side". Its just surreal because Obiwan is the one acting out of absolute moral authority while yelling at Anakin that absolutes are absolutely bad.
Sure, the whole conversation is under the light of Anakin's "If you're not with me, you're against me", but you have to remember Obiwan is a leading member of the military brass that just tried to assassinate the Chancelor because he was a Sith. (you know, forget the whole secret leader of the separatists business) It was very much a situation of "look, you need to stand down. There's going to be an investigation in to what part you played in the attemped coup, and you're my friend so I'll do what I can for you, but the Jedi fucked up, big time. If you're innocent, I'll do everything in my power to make sure justice is done."
That's how a rational story would play out. Of course, Anakin takes a hit of Dark Side cocaine and immediately murders some children and chokes his wife, who then dies because she "loses the will to live", because all that characterization of her being a strong, independent woman who fights for what's right is an indication she will just lay down and die when things get rough.
