We should rewatch TD again, I already forgot about what went down in Island and Action. Shit, I don't think I can name most of ROTI's cast or PI's.

We had a Sisters team and 2 Brothers teams, but no Sister and Brother team. Weird since we got a lot of family focus on RR (this 3 teams plus Mom/Daughter and Father/Son) They have been partners for 14 years, if the ages are right that man's they've been together since they were 6 and 8, and since neither of them seemed to want to bone one another, it seems like a pretty useless change.

Please explain why is RR supposed to be good. I watched it, and it's not even better than Action. 90% of the cast is even more cliched than the other seasons, only a very few characters got development and even then it was resetted back to the initial point (see the daters). The season finale is disappointing to say the least, the Dancers defeat payoff wasn't even satisying.

Though I admit it was a very shitty ending for one of the best seasons yet. The challenges were awful, the backgrounds were boring, only 3 eliminated teams talked, and it all came down to a challenge that was only about luck and there was no tension between the Cadets and Surfers to make it interesting. Easily worst episode after Zimbabwe, not even changing the finalist would have made it better.

It is the worst ending though. The challenge is complete shit and there is not tension. Even in fucking Pahkitew there was conflict and a decent way to end it, in RR it's just " well he was faster...kinda" and that's it.

It improved vastly on a lot of aspects TD had been failing.

Uh... That's been there since always? Ever cast member of TD was a cliché/stereotype of a typical high school setting. But on an island. After that, they started to run out of stereotypes and began to go with stuff like 'Crazy Zombie Guy' (no offense to based Shawn, but he is not one would think when it comes to a typical teen) RR just had clichés of usual team in the Amazing Race.

Yes, those who didn't get development were canon fodder. Every season had them. The original cast got 3 seasons so characters that didn't get development in Island could get it on Action, and or World Tour (and some like Tyler and Noah never got proper development even with more than 1 season) Also everyone agrees that the Daters were dragged on too far.

I do agree with this point.

Other things that RR improved, imo,

The gross out humour was heavily cut back (still there, but not as prominently as in other season) and some jokes made me laugh out loud.

>better challenges
Outside of Zimbabwe and the Finale all the locations had very unique and nice challenges related to the country. World Tour's challenges were so random and sometimes stupid. The challenges also returned to be more grounded compared to Chris' out of the real of physics and reason challenges in ROTI, PI and AS.

>great characters
Most of the teams were amazing. From the Goths to the Cadets they all had something unique to them. Only the Daters and Besties (plus the Larpers I guess) were boring. Also GOAT antagonist.

I'd say Beth, Scarlett, Sierra, Tammy, and Crimson all played before appearing in the franchise(Scarlett's a grade-A power gamer who's characters are often CN Dick-Ass Thieves), Lindsay, Dakota, Leshawna, Jasmine, Eva, Zoey, Gwen, Izzy, Kitty, and Emma all pick it up from their friends and love interests on the show(Lindsay's terrible at the math parts of the game but is surprisingly good at the roleplaying parts even though she often screws up names and inserts anachronisms into her dialogue all the time)

well some characters are obvious, like pretty much every nerd/geek character TD has had, and a couple of personal favorites come to mind as well(Eva, Anna Marie, Lindsay), but I'll admit I'm not completely sure, thinking at least 24 characters, also not too sure on Classes/Races, obviously there should be a couple odd choices(like say Cody as a Barbarian or Paladin), although most should be reasonably fitting

I was actually going to suggest Elimination on Character Death(but also slip in rules on Resurrecting through giving up Gold gained through the adventures, with teams only getting fully eliminated when a TPK has occurred, of course paying for a resurrection is expensive so teams have to balance between having their full numbers and having the gold needed for supplies), also was thinking that while most of the class list would be standard D&D classes, there'd be a couple oddball classes listed as well, but rather than anything the contestants made, this would be something Chris and Leonard cook up(had the idea that Chris used to be really into the D&D expy back in the 80's but is rusty enough on the rules side of things that he brought Leonard in to handle that aspect for him, the oddball classes would be updated versions of homebrew stuff from Chris' game back in the 80's, as would the game world itself, taken from his old notes)

Yeah, that part of the episode bothered me. The issue (Josee never listening to Jacques) existed from the start of the series and it was solved in like in 5 minutes and they resumed to be good friends after that. They should have followed it up in the finale, like maybe they no be able to work together or another discussion causing them to lose. On the other hand, if the issue had been brought up early they'd have been just like the Haters/Daters, so I suppose it was for the best to leave them like that.

I was gonna ask why would Tom make his self insert so blatantly gay.

The follow up question is why doesn't he push for actual gay relationships in the series? I understand why he didn't 7 years ago, but CN is actually trying to be progressive with things like 'Space Rock Lesbians and a Kid Show'. Their excuses seem to be pretty week

This season just showed how Fresh can make really good platonic relationships (The Surfers, Cadets, Sisters, Nowen and the Ice Dancers) while their romantic ones were just bad. Nemma was the least bad but it still wasn't as good as past ships like from season 1.

You know what I'd like to see in the next season? And actual sympathetic antagonist. Someone that really need the money and is not afraid to get their hands dirty.

Most antagonists just wanted the money with no plan for it (Alejando, Justin, Scott, Mal, and I don't remeber Heather's but I'm sure it wasn't selfless), and we just had two villains who wanted to win just because they fucking love winning (though Josee might have some real issues with it)

The most sympathetic reasons I believe were Courtney's who wanted the money for collage (or was that Scarlett? I really need that rewatch.... I think both wanted the same, even Sugar as well though her career was something stupid I don't remeber) but Courtney wasn't not very relatable in Action, or at all. Neither was Sugar in her season and Scarlett could have been but, well, Scarlett Fever happened.

I want an antagonists everyone (or almost everyone) can forgive all the shit they pull up because, dammit, s/he deserves to win. Without any waifuism involved of course.

That's an interesting idea (though not likely to happen because it's too "Degrassi" though Scoot was kind of like that)

All the villains could be seen as sympathetic, Heather was once a chubby girl, Courtney and Sugar probably have over perfectionist parents, Al (and possibly Sky) are overshadowed by their older siblings, Scarlett is overshadowed by her younger brother and Max's evil is just a pitiful cry for attention

Here's what I want to see as a villain

>Wants to get attention/fame by becoming the main villain of the season
>Because he played many villains before, he knows how the mind of a villain works, and uses this to eliminate the other antagonistic contestants

I wish I knew about D&D to actually contribute. But from what I've learned from cartoons and their d&d episodes is that the GM has to make up events for the players to face, right? So I can see Chris making them as reference to previous TD seasons. Specially with the enemies. Like for example, they could face an actual Queen Bee based on Heather.
