Why does every major piece of non-game Sonic media feel the need to introduce some kind of OC to be a part of the main cast? I understand the movie as the studio execs probably felt like adults in the theaters would need an audience surrogate with Tom and such, but why is it that everything else, especially shit like X and IDW, feel the need to introduce these other characters, especially at the beginning? Do they feel like the game cast isn't strong enough on their own? Is it some need to put "their stamp" on it? I don't get it Sonicbros
