There's a literal ocean of new art and comics being made every day, constantly drowning each other out. Unless you already have a following you have to rely on luck as well as high quality content resulting in some form of word of mouth.

Unless you're writing/drawing for a niche fetish or some shit. Then you'd be surprised just how desperate some people are for any content with any semblance of effort behind it.

The gimmick is that he never says any of the characters' full names. It's always shortened versions ie Scoob, Shag, Mick, Daff, etc. Legally, I have no idea if that would actually work, but the idea is that he could claim parody since they're not technically even the same characters.

This the guy who makes this comic got it started through a few popular tumblr posts which became the early strips then using that already existing base spring boarded himself into a bigger audience with the Shonen action stuff. Nowadays tumblr isn't a viable option and twitter is to big to make a splash.
