>>127601089I haven't watched the new special but I do have memories of the old Peanuts cartoons having complex themes like when Snoopy gathers his family, or the trip to Europe, or Snoopy Come Home.
Here's the thing, I sincerely believe that nobody raising children today are concerned about ensuring their kids get a well curated media upbringing, even parents who are highly concerned about their children's growth. Nobody actually gives a shit about understanding what was solid programming back when they were growing up or what they give to their kids today. For a while I thought Sesame Street was pretty much mandatory viewing for kids or Arthur, both programs engineered with child growth in mind. But it's just not the case that parents are getting the best shit in front of their kids because they're probably letting them loose on Netflix or YouTube and we all know that none of that shit is quality or made by professional child educators, see fucking Baby Shark.
So when it comes to Peanuts, I feel like you're going to have a hard time getting anybody to listen to your reasonable criticisms in real life. Because I've said shit like what you've said and I was made out to be some kind of psycho ripping on children's cartoons. And the thing is that Schultz's estate is fucking his corpse just like Seuss's or Asimov's because even THEY don't fucking understand what the meaning and complexity behind those stories. The formula for quality isn't locked away behind the guardians or owners of this shit, they're just milking it for cash.
And the fact is you or I shouldn't have any attachment to this shit anymore. None of this shit ought to be entertaining to us so if they fuck it, it shouldn't even be an issue despite the fact it's probably bad for kids. The only thing that matters is that you get the good classic shit in kids' hands and that's easy enough to do.
