>>127401182 If the problem was just the driving then I would have definitely been taking the train, but being packed in with people on a train equals risk of panic attacks. Especially on the way home when I've already spent all my energy meeting relatives. If I have a car then once I'm in the car on my way home it'd be relax time since I'm alone, whereas on a train it's just more tension and sweating, maybe fainting etc. It's something I should train on doing until it doesn't bother me, of course, but since having a car opens up so many more avenues for training away the social phobia it seems like the better thing to focus on right now.
I mainly just wish I hadn't put off getting that driver's license when I was young and my problems weren't that big. I just figured I didn't need a car yet because I never went anywhere far away and if I did I could take the train. Boy was that a mistake.
