>Cottagecore horror The fascination with rural aesthetics could be exploited to explore spooky rural themes like isolation, precarious self sufficiency and danger in the beautiful forests and farmland otherwise glorified by the aesthetic. A charming cottagecore lifestyle account could slowly reveal grim details. Unlike most horror it could have a genuinely beautiful aesthetic, the spookiness is in the details.
>Dark Academia HorrorDark Academia's aesthetics lends itself well to horror. Gothic architecture, persistent gloomy weather, secret traditions, the structure of school environments, strange hierarchies and unusual study material could be ripe for horror.
>Abandoned malls/Urban explorationVaporwave meets urban exploration
>Actually scary witches?Witch shit is popular but it is always soft uwu babby witch shit, maybe there is appetite for classic scary witch content
>corpocoreI proffer a potential new horror aesthetic based upon corporate control and malaise, I see it bubbling. Based on modern graphic design and minimalist interior decor. Think Infinite Ikea meets Alegria meets drinking the verification cans.
Otherwise: glitchcore, retro anime (there isn't a lot of accessible horror anime and zoomers and younger are all big weebs so I think a retro anime gloss could be effective but I don't think it will work if it uses modern aesthetics), bright saturated colors to contrast against the current trend for dour color palettes. Vivinos on Youtube is a good example of all these things, the only reason you don't see more of it is because it takes artistic ability many creators don't have but this could be remedied via collaboration. Vtuber models means we might see the return of horror hosts. Maybe we will also see the return of sexy scary aesthetics like Blood Rayen.
