>>126832720>When a privileged group (like white, cis, hetero, etc) of people are made fun of, nothing bad will happen to them. They may get their feelings hurt but that's a bout it. When a, oppressed group of people are made fun of, it can result in the furthering of stereotypes which subsequently make life harder for that oppressed group. This is like to say that bullying a kid and stealing his money it's not that bad because in Africa there people that get killed for nothing, or that you shouldn't be sad if a loved one died of old age because there are woman that get raped and killed.
The truth is that making fun of white people is what whites used to make a living. Hell even jews in comedy movies and shows created a culture of jokes and self mockery.
The only power jokes have it's what you give to it, if a BLM joke makes you feel the PTSD of your grandma being raped by the KKK then you're allowing a joke to control and have power over you and your life.
It happened to me too, back then I got angry when people mocked my country but now I realize it's funny and my shithole deserves to be mocked. The people that got mad at jokes are just this, manchildren that didn't grow up and need a reason like a race card to have everything handled to them.
Joking about stereotypes like the asian Tiger Moms criticizes it, ignoring it doesn't make it go away, joking shows exists and that is a problem to resolve.
