Invincible proved that if you give people a decent adaptation that actually looks like the comic, it will make people want to read the comic.
This is something that manga (and LNs as well) had figured out for decades, yet for some reason comics just refuse to just make a decent, accurate adaptation.
Likely because American adaptations don't exist to help elevate the original creator of the property, but rather to elevate some TV execs and the careers of some actors.
