She's not afraid to get her claws bloody, she killed Simba's 1st son Kopa after all, but she also has to play it smart. So when she finds out her son Kovu played with Simba's daughter Kiara, she plans to use him as an assassin. When that fails due to Kovu changing his mind, she ambushes him and Simba while saying it was all part of the plan, causing Simba to not trust Kovu anymore after he barely survives. But this leads to her other son Nuka getting killed, which makes her go straight to war. During the fight, her daugther leaves when a truce is called since she's tired of fighting and death, her soldiers leaving too when she promises to kill her daughter for desertion. All alone she has a choice to make, she chooses to die fighting for what she believes in. Even when dangling from a ledge above a raging flood, Kiara offering to forgive her and help her up, she chooses to die following her beliefs and lets go, falling into the raging waters while smiling the entire time. Most other villains would've chosen redemption or accidentally died from their own hubris, but Zira chose suicide rather then give up her beliefs.
