Eh it’s a little jarring the first time watching it but I got used to it. It doesn’t detract that much and the personality of the characters is what drives everything anyways. This is the kind of show you could watch the characters do nothing plot related and still be entertaining

Only a few eps in. I didn't know she was Ram Maam, but she's cute. She's more Teela than current Teela. There's nothing wrong with some OC new-version being brought in as long as they connect it to the old version. That's how you get cities of Savage Hawk Men instead of one guy who likes feathers too much.

I think the sword's too techno, though. They should have stuck with the old ancient stone sword style. I blame that old He Man sequel series that had He Man in space, plus all the armour in the series looks like something out of RoBlox or whatever that was. Not a problem though.

Gave this show a shot. I like it, very early 2000s adventure and the characters stand on their own. Im digging that we started with Keldor, where hes a capable guy who wails on He-Man and Skeletor is him being driven off the edge and drunk on Havoc energy. I think that will be one of his goals, but it could be a side goal alongside conquering all of Eternia. Which is something he is definetly going to try by invading other nations.

The power of Grayskull however doesn't require technically require Rubenite to grant people powers. It's more like He-Man's sword gives people access to the power, which can further be activated completely on their own once they develop their minds further enough to become masters of their own universes. Rubenite is necessary to perform combo attacks though.

Yeah, over all I was impressed with it. I had hoped for a fun show and that's what I got. I definitely didn't expect him to go so far as to control the kingdom or mind control the guards but it was a cool move and it sets up for the next season well. I'm definitely curious as to see what they're going to do next now that Skeletor is so deeply in control.

It is pretty rough on the dude, that's for sure. The Dark Masters and their transformations are great. Beast Man probably being my favorite. The whole way it darkly parallels He-Man and the He-Musketeers' transformations was a fun way to bring Skeletor's character into even the transformations. I look forward to the inevitable Mosquitor and any other future transformations.

As someone who was around for He-Man and the MotU 2002 and did a deep dive of the '80s media, I'd say it has a lot to do with He-Man.

Adam being raised by a jungle tribe is a call back to He-Man's first origin, before Prince Adam was invented.
The 2002 cartoon opened with Randor and Keldor fighting but never did anything with their relationship, despite "my BROTHER, Keldor" originating in a comic book packed with 1987 action figures.
Skeletor's joking and insanity are a homage to the '80s Skeletor and pretty much no other sci-fi/fantasy villains.
So this is clearly a He-Man show and not Star Wars or Destiny with the IP tacked on.

Unlike Revelations’ bizarre obsessive cynicism and lack of real characters, this show actually has a story story structure and a surprisingly solid cast of characters. Not all the humor worked and personally I felt like some of the drama was forced, but overall I enjoyed the characters and the way it utilized elements of the franchise to tell its own story. It’s also the only time where the Keldor origin for Skeletor felt organic and worked for me.

It's more or less what I expected. It's somewhat annoying and the twists on the premise only exacerbate it. Even on the show's own terms I'm not that impressed, but putting that much effort into a new take targeted at kids is refreshing for an IP that had become fossilized by nostalgia. Hopefully kids connect with it.

I’d actually say that despite the claims the Revelations is “for the fans,” this show actually captures the spirit of the franchise way more and doesn’t look at it with cynicism beyond jokes about tights. It understands what He-Man ultimately represents and what it means to be a Master. It also understands what Skeletor is, the wrench in the machine, the manic fire in the forest that is so bad that everyone has to come together against him who revels in his actions and doesn’t regret his evil. Despite some weak designs, it understands what the franchise is about and does it a lot better than Revelations.

It's very much stated/ implied that King Randor sucks ass. It's why Teela was down for working with Lyn, she's been living in the lower class of their kingdom ("Republic") all her life and doesn't like him.

I'm sure that's why she was written to take him to the slums to hide out, so that next season he sees how shit of a king he's been. He already autistically held on to his "La RULES are the RULES" shit in the face of meeting his only child after a decade of thinking he's dead, so it's not that hard to see him being a PoS to reg people.

Might also be Tech vs Magic, where he/ the kingdom picked tech advancements and subjugates magic. They don't seem to have a magic person of any status, and the only magic people we know seem to oppose him/ his rule. Given how broken Teela is you'd think they would employ/ work with magic users, but all their shit is straight up tech.

I think it's interesting that they have a land with talking fucking tigers next door that no one from his kingdom seemed to know about, but it's clearly not some secret given that BeastMan knew and held fights using them for entertainment.

They did a really good job with the villains. I really loved how they handled them all, and was especially impressed with how they used Beastman.
I’m usually not a fan of the Keldor background, but the show really did it well.
The Snake Men are definitely in the cards, but I hope we get some of the other cool Evil Warriors like Clawful and Whiplash.

It's decent enough, vastly better than 2002 He-Man, but I'm feeling it's closer to Trollhunters or Kid Cosmic than to higher-tier stuff like Avatar, She-Ra, or Gargoyles. By no means bad, but I'm skeptical that there'll be much in the way of twists & turns, and I don't see there being any hidden depths among the villains.

But Skeletor's a fucking hoot a minute. We need shows like this too.

The Filmatiln show’s a lot of fun as long as you’re fine with cheap animation. The voice acting and stories are a blast. Skeletor is one of the most entertaining villains of all time.
One of my favorite moments was in Journey To Stone City
>Evil Lynn is the main villain of the episode and steals a device from a new character and she brings it back to Snake Mountain
>Skeletor finally shows up to see what she’s up to and sees the device, and He-Man threatens to destroy Snake Mountain for the device

When you think about it, if Randor is the younger brother, then Keldor would have gotten the initial training to become king. Thus when the younger brother is crowned, Keldor would have to become the main advisor. Given that the coup was relatively large in size, makes sense that he took a good chunk of the bureaucracy with him. And with Randor just plain greiving, wouldn't have the desire to replace everyone.

I really liked the reveal that The whole precious metal plot was Skeletor playing Kronin and Lynn the whole time, making them think they were going to betray him when they literally gave him the key to them being his slaves.. I really love how the keep Skeletor a massive threat, yet also funny. 2002’s Skeletor had the problem that as much as they tried to make him seem intimidating, he had a terrible track record, so after a while you just didn’t treat him seriously. Filmation Skeletor always fluctuated between comedy relief and actually winning or close to it (even conquering the Horde at one point).

This Skeletor is always in some form of a winning streak, even when losing, and the humor really balances him out.

It feels like an episode exploring that and Krass's focus episode got cut and you can feel it in the pacing.

Krass dismissing how hot and cold she was on the Masters as a project before immediately bailing once she realized she could keep the powers was fucked up and needed more exploration than "oh well i guess i dont want him to die."
