I like edgy drama as much as the next guy, but I can only take OMG, EVIL VILLAIN JUST AMBUSHED ME AND NOW I MUST TEAR OUT MY SPINE TO PROVE MY AGENCY so many times before it gets boring. The occasional slice of life page/issue really helps as a tension breaker and is a perfect opening for bonding and emotional investment.
