This is only the case in a heavily plot driven show when half the fun is seeing what comes next
In episodic shit or stuff that has satisfying story arcs then that really doesn't apply.

In most cases yes, but just because a later season is bad/subpar it doesn't necessarily weaken a previous season, elements introduced in the season can do it though

Yeah, when it's a serial work with an ongoing plot it kinda can be the case. The show could have a good build up only to have a terrible ending with a shitty payoff and it might make the earlier stuff look like it meant nothing

On one hand, it can be hard to enjoy the earlier parts of a show knowing that it's about to nosedive into terribleness at a certain point, but on the other, it is pretty stupid to deny yourself the enjoyment of something you liked and basically twist your mind into thinking the good parts are now bad. Sure, it sucks when a work has a terrible conclusion or goes with a really weak twist, but oh fucking well, the good parts are still good. Would be like declaring your entire life is shit because a recent event totally broke you, so somehow your entire life wasn't ever good.

Like others have said it depends on the show. Simpson being terrible for 20 years doesn't stop the first 9 seasons from being great but something plot driven like GoT having an awful ending really does smear shit over the whole series

Game of Thrones is based on it's story and consequences. That is EXPLICITLY what you are there for. If the story and consequences then start shitting blood, it means all the setup of the early parts were for NOTHING. The entire point was the later payoff to see how it plays out.

Yes and no I guess? I can still enjoy S1 of Castlevania, probably cause it was structured like a movie. But S2 tht I originally liked I no longer can now that I know how the villain's plot went a lot of the time dedicated to them feels like a waste, especially when it was done at the expense of the heroes being trapped in the same location and not doing much during the whole season
