>>125382562Still kinda salty that just Bayonetta made it to Smash. My guess is that Sephiroth and Pyra were the ones that killed hard the chances of getting another swordfighter. These two likely made it over Dante, Travis, 2B, Sora, Lloyd, Sol, and other sword users. Well in Lloyd and Dante's case, Kazuya certainly was the last nail in the coffin for them, due to different reasons.
Anyway, Travis since his spinoff can revive people, has a gauntlet/console game with multiple virtual worlds/universes inside of it, and is aware of the 4th wall since NMH1. He's just videogame Deadpool and can do whatever he wants as long as Suda allows it. His cat speaking now is a good example of this. They just don't care about being serious nor consistent and do whatever works best as a joke or makes the story crazier.
When it comes to hack n slash protags, think Bayonetta may follow him, due to being able to time travel and create parallel universes or split timelines. The Infiniton big Bang punch and having the potential to rewrite three realities/universes are some of her best feats when she's in her prime or fights seriously. In terms of gameplay weapons she may be the most diverse, since she can use the strongest angelic, demonic, and Nintendo weapons. She and Rodin do break the 4th wall now and then, since they are currently the most powerful living characters in their lore, and follow NMH in terms of whackiness and campiness. Although NMH cranks it up to 11. Both have casual world-ending minor enemies currently.
After them, come Dante, Asura, Kratos, and Raiden. As you can tell, the more serious, realistic, and less exaggerated, the weaker they are.
By the way, in terms of character writing, FU is already my favorite hack n slash villain, just below Armstrong.
