This is fucking bullshit. The average Avatar episode had twice as many frames as the average anime episode, and by the time it went to Korra, it was like 3-4 times. Art style aside, there is no anime that is as smooth for as long a duration as there is in Korra without resorting to an extremely stylized depiction of the art to save time.

Most anime are adaptions from comics, which are really high on art, but not designed for fast moving pictures. Most western animation is based off storyboards which is less art but fast and more fluid frames.
