I guess the point could be to simply look good regarding the estimated future marketing data, which draws in clueless investors, which in turn raises your company value, and now you can take more zero interest debt against the company and issue stock buybacks and artificially raise your stock value even further.
It's all smoke and mirrors, real profit means fuckall at this point.
