So my GF is out of town and I decided to get trashed on stimulants and watch Steven Universe in it's entirety. I had only seen up until the barn episodes before losing interest before, but figured I may as well give the rest a go. It wasn't worth it. That show had some of the worst and inconsistent character development of any cartoon I've seen, an egregious sin for a show so heavily focused on "muh plot development"
Everything from Steven suddenly developing trauma out of nowhere, to Lapis and Peridot becoming pointless characters, to Connie being 5 characters at once, it was almost all terrible. The only two characters I liked were Greg and Pearl, because Greg was genuinely a good dad, and Pearl actually seemed to have believable development (and the best songs). I was really hoping by the end they would wind up together, because that would at least have been a cherry on top of that shit sundae of a show
