>>124038347I disagree, this is a very particular form of talent that often times genuinely doesn't have a paying equivalent. The professional form of what they are doing is notorious for paying peanuts and is far less interesting and the people that do this for a living don't get to craft personal narratives, they are VFX bottom bitches that get bossed around. And you have to realize that part of the fun for the women that make them is getting to use characters people are already familiar with to evoke specific reactions from the audience, seeing Alice and Wendy reimagined as a child predator's targets hits different because you associate them with childhood nostalgia. And the challenge of using a limited recourse pool is part of the fun.
These videos are weird but to me it is heartening that women who would otherwise lack the money or skill to direct their own stories are still able to find creative outlets.
