Mark's acting like he's something super-special, and that there's some premise for him playing super-coy with his identity.
But from what we've seen from the various other relationships in the show, no one else is playing old Silver-Age Superman & Lois games with each other. Heroes like Eve and Rex are even incorporating their real names into their costumed identities.
Mark seems to have gotten his notion of relationships from Comic Books. He thinks he can spoof his "Lois" for what, years? They've been dating their entire senior year, arranging dinner with parents, planning to spend 4 years of college together, and he's still acting like he's 14.
This is a good, believable part of Mark's character btw. He's immature and idealistic and not the sharpest knife in the drawer, far from the old Clark Kent with his "super-intelligence". Most of the comic run is based around Mark growing up and learning how his world really works.
He really fucks up a potential thing with Amber, moves on, and does (a bit) better the second time. I'm really more interested in how they alter the plotlines of the Eve relationship (I feel they will).
In the end, Mark was being an ass, Amber was being an ass, and everyone on /co/ is piling on Amber because of their crippling ronery and general inability to relate to women. At all.
The OP in particular needs therapy after 50 threads like this.
