Thanks to Trese, I now know the correct pronunciation of Tikbalang and Tianak.
Looking up the Trese wiki, I guess that some of the races/tribes were made up for the comic, like the elemental wind and lightning people.
The Duwende and Nuno (dwarf/fairy/little people) are authentic Filipino folklore creatures, as are the Tianank, Tikbalang and Aswang (vampires/ghouls).
"Tabi tabi po" means "Excuse me", which is said when you pass by a place where the fairies are supposed to live and want to avoid annoying them.
