It used to be that every so often Spider-Man would let loose, but it was never at the expense of any of his major adversaries. Spider-Man didn’t get his ass kicked by them because he just decided to hide his power level every time, he loses to them because they’re dangerous people with traits that make them a threat. Part of why Spider-Man throws out insults is to throw off his enemies so he can keep some form of advantage.
But now Peter can just rip apart Shocker’s suit, punch off Scorpion’s jaw, and Dr. Octopus and Kingpin, despite managing to put Spidey in bad positions, suddenly never did despite thought bubbles saying the opposite.
This has been an issue that’s been happening since the 90s, but now it’s to the point where it makes you question why Spider-Man even has an ongoing if he can’t ever lose because he’s secretly the strongest guy ever.
