How did he pull that one off? With all the shitty reboots we have seen, it was a great bit of foresight on his part, but did CN just let him have it or did he have to fight for it?

Usually you sell the rights to the network so you have money to start a new project. If he never intended to do that, he didn’t really need the money. Since it was one of the first pieces of content on CN that wasn’t a HB rerun, CN was probably a bit more lax on who got the rights to what. No one could have predicted EEnE would be the longest running Cartoon Cartoon
